Above the Glass: Adapting During a Pandemic

Back in mid-March 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Intelliware like much of the tech community, went from operating as co-located, in-person organizations to a remote first organization. Since mid-March of last year, we’ve had quite some time to reflect on how we much like other companies were able navigate and adapt to the new remote first world.

In the recent edition of Women Who Code’s Above the Glass Blog Series, Ivana Marzura, Director of Solution Delivery at Intelliware, meets with Shaykara Waajid, Senior Volunteer Operations Manager at Women Who Code, to discuss redefining work during a pandemic, people first culture, and the importance of mentoring.

“In the early days of the pandemic, we were really aware of the fact that this situation was different for everybody. All of our people were experiencing different and difficult challenges. Schools were closing, kids were home, some were responsible for caring for family members, and others were completely isolated. As a leader and company, it’s really important to understand where people are and what they need. Then you begin to adapt.”

About Intelliware and Women Who Code

Intelliware’s relationship with Women Who Code, now in its fifth year, developed in early in 2017 when we became the first Toronto company to participate in the Network Sponsorship program in support of Women Who Code Toronto. The partnership has provided Intelliware with a forum to voice our opinion on the importance of championing Women in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields.
